So far, we have talked about many parts of Pz.
What kind of app it is.
What you can do.
How it is different from ordinary apps.
And who we hope will enjoy it.
This time, we would like to go a little deeper.
Why was Pz created in the first place?
This is the story behind the idea.
- Our Screens Are Already Full of Things
- Something That Is Simply “There”
- A Small Companion Might Make a Small Difference
- Why Pz Is Not Built Around Winning a Game
- Why Pz Does Not Require Daily Care
- Why Pz Does Not Focus on Conversation
- Why the Whole Story Is Not Decided for You
- An App Does Not Always Have to Be “Useful”
- A Small Space in Everyday Life
- Pz Began with the Idea of “Spending Time Together”
- What Pz Hopes to Become
Our Screens Are Already Full of Things
When we open a smartphone, we can find:
news,
social media,
games,
videos,
work tools,
shopping,
and many other useful things.
Smartphones can do so much.
And that made us think:
“Maybe there could also be something on the screen that is not only about convenience.”
That was one of the ideas behind Pz.
Something That Is Simply “There”
Most apps have a clear purpose.
Games are for playing.
Social media is for connecting.
Maps help us find places.
Work apps help us finish tasks.
But we thought:
not every app has to ask us to achieve something.
Maybe there can be a small presence on the screen
that does not ask for anything,
does not hurry you,
and is simply there.
That idea became an important part of Pz.
A Small Companion Might Make a Small Difference
There are busy days.
Tiring days.
Days when you simply do not feel your best.
On a day like that,
you may open your screen and see your little companion walking.
Sleeping.
Or reacting to you for a moment.
Maybe that tiny moment can make you feel just a little different.
It does not need to say something encouraging.
It does not need to do anything big.
Sometimes,
simply being there can be enough.
That is the kind of presence Pz hopes to become.
Why Pz Is Not Built Around Winning a Game
Pz could have been made into a game.
You could collect points.
Level up.
Clear stages.
Collect items.
Compete with other people.
Those things can be fun.
But they were not the main idea we wanted for Pz.
What mattered more was:
spending time together, not completing something.
You do not have to work hard every day.
You do not have to win.
Your little companion can simply be there.
Why Pz Does Not Require Daily Care
When people hear “digital pet,”
they may imagine feeding,
daily care,
and things that must be done every day.
That can be enjoyable.
But we did not want Pz to become another responsibility.
People have busy days.
Tired days.
Days when they do not open an app at all.
We did not want you to feel:
“I have to do this.”
So Pz is designed to fit your own pace of life.
Why Pz Does Not Focus on Conversation
Your little companion in Pz is not designed to have spoken conversations.
It does not answer you with words.
But not every connection needs words.
The way an animal walks.
The way it sleeps.
A small reaction.
Simply seeing it nearby.
When we spend time with real animals,
we do not always have conversations with them.
Still, we can feel their presence.
Pz values a similar kind of quiet connection.
Why the Whole Story Is Not Decided for You
Pz has characters such as Peri and Poko.
It also has its own world.
But we do not want to decide every part of their personalities and stories.
Different people can see the same companion in different ways.
One person may see a free and independent personality.
Another may see a gentle one.
Someone else may think,
“You really love sleeping.”
The names can be different too.
The feelings can be different.
Pz leaves room for your own small story to grow.
An App Does Not Always Have to Be “Useful”
Many apps are useful.
They save time.
Help us work faster.
Help us find information.
That is important.
But not everything we enjoy in life needs to make us more efficient.
Looking at flowers.
Watching the sky.
Seeing an animal sleeping peacefully.
These things may not make us work faster.
But sometimes they make an ordinary moment feel a little softer.
We hope Pz can become something like that.
A Small Space in Everyday Life
Our days are full of information.
Notifications.
News.
Work.
Messages.
Videos.
Social media.
Among all of that,
there can also be a small presence that asks nothing from you.
Look for a moment.
Smile for a moment.
Notice something small.
Then go back to your day.
Pz hopes to create that kind of small space in everyday life.
Pz Began with the Idea of “Spending Time Together”
Pz did not begin with the idea:
“Let’s make a game.”
It did not begin as social media.
And it did not begin as a productivity tool.
The first idea was much simpler:
“What if there were a small companion inside the screen?”
From that idea came:
walking,
resting,
sleeping,
reacting,
giving a name,
and spending time together.
Little by little,
that idea became Pz.
What Pz Hopes to Become
Pz is not trying to do something huge.
Maybe you look at the screen for only a few seconds and think:
“Oh, there you are.”
Maybe you relax just a little.
Maybe, after some time,
you begin to wonder what your companion is doing.
And little by little,
something that began as a Pz character
may start to feel like
your own little companion.
If Pz can create moments like that,
then it is doing what it was created to do.
